Small Business and Commerce Center (SBCC)
Small Business and Commerce Center is a joint project of The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry (SCTI) and SMEDA, with an estimated cost of Rs. 341.67 million. The Chamber has contributed Rs. 170 million in the form of a plot for building the Center and Rs. 20 million for civil works, while the remaining Rs. 171.67 million is being provided by the Federal Government. This multistoried building will serve as a Display and Convention Center, along with other commercial activities.
Sports Industry Development Center (SIDC)
Sialkot has maintained a leading position in the global football market over the years. However, with the advent of mechanized ball technology, this edge has faced significant challenges. To address these and other future concerns, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry partnered with SMEDA to establish the Sports Industry Development Center at a cost of Rs. 272 million. This initiative aims to adopt new technologies to help Sialkot retain its dominant position in football exports. Funding for the project is being provided by the Federal Government.
City Infrastructure Development Program
In a groundbreaking initiative, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry launched a City Infrastructure Development Program in collaboration with trade bodies. The program, based on a matching grant system with the Federal and Punjab Governments (1:1 and 1:3, respectively), began in 1999. Exporters voluntarily contributed 0.25% of their export invoices to improve the city’s road infrastructure. In its first phase, Rs. 210 million was collected, leading to the construction of major roads such as Kashmir Road, Defense Road, and Circular Road. This self-help initiative highlights the business community’s dedication to the city’s development.
Export Processing Zone
The country’s second Export Processing Zone has been established at Sambrial by The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry on 238 acres, with a private sector investment of Rs. 184 million. This initiative promises to usher in an industrial revolution and attract foreign investments to the region.
Tannery Zone Development
To address environmental concerns caused by scattered tanneries, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry initiated the Tannery Zone project. The government has issued notifications under Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act 1894 to acquire 384 acres at Khambran Wala on Kuluwal Road. The project, managed by a nonprofit organization, features a state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant, and all tanneries are being relocated to this dedicated zone.
International Airport
The establishment of a mega international airport is a landmark achievement of The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry, the first private sector project of its kind in South Asia. The airport will expedite export cargo transportation and facilitate travel for businessmen and overseas residents in the region.
Dry Port Trust
In 1984, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry established the first private-sector Dry Port in Asia, enabling customs clearance services at exporters’ and importers’ doorsteps. This innovative initiative has significantly streamlined regional trade logistics.
Seerat Study Center
In collaboration with international forums, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry established the Seerat Study Center for research on the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). This initiative underscores the Chamber’s commitment to promoting education and understanding of Islamic teachings.
Small Transport Company (STC)
The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry also established the Small Transport Company to address regional transportation needs efficiently.
Air Services
The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry introduced air services under the Air Small Initiative, enhancing air connectivity for regional business and trade.
Child & Social Development Organization (CSDO)
The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry spearheaded efforts to eliminate child labor from the soccer ball industry and promote socially responsible entrepreneurship through the establishment of CSDO. The organization has successfully executed multiple projects in collaboration with international partners, such as FIFA, UNICEF, and ILO, to protect children, empower marginalized communities, and ensure sustainable development.
Khud Kifalat Rozgar Trust
Under its self-help initiatives, The Small Chamber of Trade and Industry launched the Khud Kifalat Rozgar Trust (KKRT) in 2008, inspired by the concept of providing Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loans). The trust supports deserving individuals in starting or expanding small businesses, fostering self-reliance and community welfare.
